Lateral epicondylitis, commonly known as tennis elbow, is a prevalent musculoskeletal disorder characterized by pain and reduced functional ability around the lateral aspect of the elbow. It commonly affects individuals involved in repetitive wrist and forearm activities and significantly interferes with daily living and occupational performance. Various conservative treatment approaches have been proposed for the management of lateral epicondylitis; however, the comparative effectiveness of Mobilization with Movement (MWM) and exercise therapy remains an area of clinical interest.
The present study aimed to evaluate and compare the efficacy of Mobilization with Movement and exercise interventions in patients with lateral epicondylitis. The study was conducted on individuals diagnosed with lateral epicondylitis and divided into different treatment groups. Outcome measures included Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) for pain assessment and grip strength measurement to determine functional improvement. Data were collected before and after the intervention period and analyzed statistically.
The findings of the study demonstrated significant improvement in pain reduction and grip strength among participants receiving Mobilization with Movement as well as exercise therapy. However, Mobilization with Movement showed comparatively superior results in improving functional outcomes and reducing pain intensity. The study concludes that Mobilization with Movement is an effective physiotherapeutic intervention for managing lateral epicondylitis and may be considered a beneficial treatment option either alone or in combination with conventional exercise therapy.
