Research Edge and Publication (REP) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, accessibility, and availability of all published scholarly content. To safeguard the scholarly record and support sustainable academic communication, REP follows recognized digital preservation practices and archiving standards.

The objective of this policy is to ensure that all publications remain accessible to researchers, institutions, libraries, and the global academic community, even in the event of technical failures, platform migration, or unforeseen circumstances.

Long-Term Digital Preservation

REP recognizes the importance of preserving scholarly content for future generations.

All published content, including:

  • Academic Books
  • Monographs
  • Dissertations and Theses
  • Conference Proceedings
  • Book Chapters
  • Institutional Publications
  • Research Reports

is maintained through secure digital preservation practices to ensure continued accessibility and integrity.

The publisher regularly performs:

  • Secure server backups
  • Database backups
  • Content integrity monitoring
  • System maintenance and updates
  • Redundant storage management

These measures help protect published content from accidental loss, corruption, or technological obsolescence.

PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)

Research Edge and Publication is committed to participating in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), a free preservation service developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP) for journals and publishing platforms using PKP software.

PKP PN provides:

  • Long-term preservation of published content
  • Distributed preservation across multiple preservation nodes
  • Secure archival storage
  • Permanent scholarly record protection
  • Preservation of open-access content

Where enabled and supported by the platform configuration, eligible REP publications may be deposited into the PKP Preservation Network for long-term preservation.

LOCKSS Preservation System

LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) is an internationally recognized digital preservation initiative designed to ensure permanent access to scholarly content.

When available and technically supported, REP supports preservation through LOCKSS-compatible systems that:

  • Create multiple secure copies of published content
  • Preserve content across distributed locations
  • Protect against data loss
  • Ensure long-term accessibility of scholarly publications

The LOCKSS principle ensures that multiple preserved copies help maintain content availability even if one source becomes unavailable.

Institutional and Repository Preservation

Authors are encouraged to deposit published works in:

  • Institutional Repositories
  • University Libraries
  • Research Repositories
  • Subject Repositories
  • Personal Academic Websites

Such deposits increase visibility while contributing to the long-term preservation and dissemination of scholarly content.

Metadata Preservation

REP maintains publication metadata to support:

  • Discoverability
  • Citation Tracking
  • Academic Indexing
  • Persistent Identification
  • Scholarly Record Integrity

Preserved metadata may include:

  • Author Information
  • Publication Dates
  • ISBNs
  • DOIs (where assigned)
  • Abstracts

Website and Content Availability
