The aim of the study is to assess the effectiveness of hot water foot bath therapy on the quality of sleep among elderly peoples staying in Mother Teresa old age home at Gorakhpur. The objectives are to assess the frequency and percentage distribution of sample based on selected demographic variables. To assess the quality of sleep among the sample before hot water foot bath therapy among experimental and control group .To assess the quality of sleep among the sample after hot water foot bath therapy among experimental group. To assess the effectiveness of hot water foot bath therapy among sample. To find out the association between posts –test score of experimental group with their selected demographic variables. The quasi experimental pre and post –test control group design was adopted and the sample selected from Mother Teresa old age home chosen for the study .The sample size was 60 and was drawn through non probability convenient sampling technique. The level of sleep quality score assessed by using sleep quality score checklist .Hot water therapy was applied for experimental group post-test done after intervention period, and the data gathered were analysed by descriptive and inferential statistical method and interpretations were made on the basis of the objectives of the study during post -test in experimental group ..In experimental group pre –test the mean is 54.36 and post- test mean is 32.66 the mean difference between pre –test and post-test is 21.7 the standard deviation of experimental group is 124.47 and the degree of freedom is 29, the calculated t value is 2.295 and table t value is 2.045 .hence it signifies that the calculated t value is greater than the table t value. In control group the pre-test mean is 59.23 and the post-test mean is 59.23 so the mean difference is 0.
