Synopsis

This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of an Integrated Scapular Muscle Training Program for IT workers with scapular dyskinesis. One hundred and fifty participants were selected and randomly assigned to an experimental and a control group. Structured scapular muscle training program was given to the experimental group for 6-8 weeks, whereas the control group continued their routine activities. Scapular asymmetry was assessed using the Lateral Scapular Slide Test (LSST), rounded shoulder posture was evaluated through the table to acromion distance method, cervical range of motion was measured with a universal goniometer and ergonomic ability was evaluated with RULA and ROSA scores. The findings of the study showed that all the outcome variables improved significantly in the experimental group (p < 0.001) and did not improve in the control group. There was also a strong correlation between scapular stability and ergonomic risk score. The study findings conclude that the Integrated Scapular Muscle Training Program can be effective in enhancing posture, mobility and ergonomic function among IT workers.
